After working for three years in M'diq (to the north, near Tétouan), since 2013 we have been continuing our training activities in Morocco in Al Hoceima.
We discovered this small tourist town in the Rif region of northeastern Morocco thanks to Georges MICHEL, President of AFEPS, who put us in touch with Soulimane El Khattabi, head of the Social Action section of the Association Chebab Rif Al Hoceima (ACRA). Soulimane is also a well-known figure in the town, thanks to his personality and generosity. It was with this sports association that we built up our first missions, before also working with the Institut de Technologie des Pêches Maritimes (ITPM) and a group of local diving associations (including ACRA's diving section).
Our objective in Al Hoceima is to train young adults (the average age of our students is higher than in other Plongeurs du Monde missions) to boost recreational diving in Morocco. In this context, Al Hoceima in the Moroccan Rif is a good candidate to serve as the cradle of this emerging and soon-to-be-booming activity.
Over the last few years, we've gone from one to two or even three missions a year, divided between the ITPM, ACRA's Actions Sociales and local diving associations, enabling us to see the progress of the students we've trained and who are launching themselves into local diving.
